WOD
CFSD Olympic Lifting Competition

Three attempts each for one rep max of:
Clean & Jerk
Snatch

Take 3-4 warm-up sets, and then set your new PRs. Post loads to comments.

(If you have time after the competition, practice box jumps for max height. Stack tumbling pads, tires, boxes, or anything else you can find and see how high you can get up.)

WOD: 3 rounds for time, 10 75# Hang Power Snatch, 10 75# OHS, 10 40" Box Jumps, time: 12:30

Today was really my first endevour into the world of the heavier snatch. So forgive me if I didn't go agressive enough, I feel I will be healthy for more lessons when I get back to CFSD for you all to tear up my form.

Max Snatch: 145#
Max C&J was 185#
Both PR's but you all have motivated me to expand on this part of my Crossfit delopment.

So the athlete at our HS gym were wanting a workout so I dug up "Christine"
3 Rounds for time
500M Row
12 BWDL
30 BoxJumps.

They all enjoyed it and since I couldn't let any of them have the top time I put in a 9:52 (BW 178#)

Snatchtastic Ali, my reference to a 65 lb. snatch was by way of example only. Based on the near perfection of your mechanics, I would have thought your snatch PR was closer to 85 or 95 lbs. Perhaps today will be the day to set that new PR?

Chris, great post. It's awesome having you as part of the crew. You bring great energy to the group every morning. Keep up the good work, and keep enjoying the benefits.

CJ,

Thanks for the encouragement...feeling verbose today? For clarification, it's 67lbs, not 65lb. Huge difference.

A.

If "Clean & Jerks" were ever called "Dirt & Quirks", I would get the set of steak knives for performing them perfectly this morning.

But, sub-par form or not, CFSD produces results. After a solid four day per week, first month dose of the WOD, I have lost 12 pounds!

I am continually humbled and challenged by the great team at CFSD. You guys/gals are a real breath of fresh air. After 19 years in the military and "hitting the gym" with some regularity, I have never been exposed to anything nearly as beneficial or challenging as Crossfit. So far, it's been a total clinic in learning the true meaning of genuine fitness.

Sure, it hurts everywhere. Sure, I feel like a clumsy teenager. Sure, I steer my vehicle into on-coming traffic after a hard WOD.....but such is the life of an amateur Crossfitter!

Miranda, the chances of those brownies actually making it all the way back to San Diego has to be slim at best. I am guessing the only thing that makes it back to the gym is Snax, with a bloated belly and a crusted chocolate ring around his mouth.

Sat WOD: 60 sec on / 60 sec off running circuit of bench jumps, squats, burpees, anchored sit-up's, push-up's, jumping lunges and partner-assisted HSPU's. 2 rounds, total score with partner (Justin), 735.

Snax's Brownies??! That is a chocolate based recipe right?

Hey you guys... I understand that Snax is bringing back...SNACKS..BROWNIES! Enjoy! Thanks for the visit Snax!

Tomorrow, the beauty of one's snatch will only be relevant to the extent that it correlates with increased functionality and power. A beautiful 65 lb. snatch is, nonetheless, a weak snatch. Tomorrow, it better be strong and pretty - too little pretty and it won't be as strong as it could be, but too much pretty and it definitely isn't as strong as it should be.

I bet Ali is excited that she gets to show off her pretty snatch again so soon. Kind of weird since we were just talking about all of its glory last night.
